RENTON, Wash. – The WIAA is set to host the Emerald City Volleyball Invitational (ECVI) and the12th annual Emerald City Kickoff Classic (ECKC), Friday, Sept. 5 and Saturday, Sept. 6 respectively, in Seattle.
The ECVI found a new home in 2014 as Roosevelt High School will play host. The teams competing in the jamboree style contest are the Chief Sealth Seahawks, Lakeside Lions, Mercer Island Islanders, and Mt. Si Wildcats. For the entire volleyball schedule, click here. For the first time in the event’s history, the ECKC will be held at Seattle Memorial Stadium located at the foot of the iconic Space Needlein the heart of downtown Seattle. Previously, the ECKC has been held at CenturyLink Field, Roos Field and Husky Stadium.
The four game schedule will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday with the Bridgeport Mustangs taking on the Darrington Loggers. The 1 p.m. contest pits the Mt. Spokane Wildcats against the West Valley (Yakima) Rams, while the 4 p.m. game features the Prosser Mustangs versus the Emerald Ridge Jaguars. The finale showcases the Benson Techmen of Oregon and the Roosevelt Rough Riders.
Three of the eight teams have participated in the ECKC previously and have a combined record of 2-1. For previews of the match-ups, click here. Tickets for the Kickoff Classic are $15 for adults, $10 for students (with valid ASB) and seniors (62 and over), and children under the age of five are free. |
