(RENTON, Wash.) – The Emerald City Kickoff Classic (ECKC) and the Emerald City Volleyball Invitational, presented by Farmers Insurance Group, will kickoff the 2011-12 school year beginning with the ECVI Friday, Sept. 2 at Mercer Island High School and concluding with the ECKC Saturday, September 3, at CenturyLink Field.
The ECVI will return to a four-team jamboree format and will be hosted by Mercer Island High School. Showcasing the event is reigning 3A State Champion, Seattle Prep. Last year’s 1B State Runner-up, Christian Faith, makes its second-consecutive appearance, while Mercer Island and Stadium will make their first appearance at the ECVI.
Admission into ECVI is free.

The 2011 ECKC will host eight schools for the first time and two schools for a second (Mercer Island and Moses Lake). One of the newcomers will be Idaho’s 5A State Champion, Coeur d’Alene.
Hazen and Blaine will kick off the event with a showdown of 2B Darrington and Oroville to follow. The third game consists of 2A W.F. West and North Mason, while a rematch of a 2010 regular-season game between Coeur d’Alene and Moses Lake will be displayed next. To cap off the day-long event, Seattle Prep will do battle with Mercer Island.

Tickets for the ECKC can be purchased through participating schools, Ticketmaster or at the gate the day of the event. Adults are $15 each, students (with valid ASB card) and seniors (62 and over) are $10 each, and children under the age of five are free.
